kriti vaasan sir's class 07 Nov 2021
Main Learning Points today were when Kriti Vaasan sir's elucidation of the nuances of the waking state . Normally 3 states were considered in consciousness , Waking , Dream and Sleeping .
Today , Mr Kriti Vaasan sir further classified the Waking state we have into 3 more . I do not remember the third . I missed it, while noting down .
I remember, ' Mohika' and ' Moorchika ' states , within our waking states .
Mohika State in Chetana : We WANT something, strongly, and very badly . We pine for it . We crave it . We yearn for it . Or we want a certain even to happen to us . We WANT it strongly. Or we want to possess an external object , be it a piece of property , or social position ( fame ) or a person .
When we are ' possessed ' by this thought of possessing something or someone , we lose our sanity . We lose our normal self . We resort to or stoop down to - doing things that we normally we do not do , to get what we want !
When we are possessed by severe longing , we are not what we NORMALLY are ! We behave strangely . Sometimes we even behave senselessly , as our normal senses stop functioning .This is a nutshell , is ' MOHIKA ' state . We are in the grip of MOHAM aka infatuation . Not necessarily towards a PERSON, this is a strong DESIRE to possess an object or for a desired event to happen .
MOORCHIKA STATE : This is the opposite of Mohika state , or ' Post Mohika ' state .
When the desired object is not available to us , or when the strongly desired event does not happen , the deep shock that the mind undergoes, is Moorchika . Deeply upset state. Our consciousness undergoes mental FAINTING . When the ' kaama ' ( ANY desire, not necessarily a physical desire for another person ) is not fulfilled, ' krodha ' takes over .
We start blaming events , objects, persons we perceive to be responsible for our un-fulfillment , we blame our fate and we get deeply angry . This is Moorchika state. Our mind , temporarily , loses its balance.
Again, we are not the normal , peaceful , pleasant person . We become intolerable.
A mind that continually undergoes this ' Mohika ' and ' Moorchika ' state , experiences a great deal of suffering . Meditation is one cure. So are, not wanting , not resisting , and acceptance of what ever happens, who ever comes into and goes out of our lives .
We must stay with - what is inside us and what stays with us all the time . Then , what comes and goes , who comes and goes , will not bother us. Outside objects that we want to possess, persons, events cannot give us lasting happiness .
Let us take Deep Sleep for instance . We do not lose our consciousness in Deep Sleep . We do not !
If it were so, it would be impossible for us to get us and say , stretching ourselves happily , ' I have had a good sleep ! '
Who was witnessing it ? Who was watching it ? There must be someone ! Catch hold of the witness and STAY with it.
For , all mind level experiences are untrue . Untrue because they are impermanent . REALITY CAN NEVER LEAVE YOU ! What leaves you , is NOT REAL !
What is the use of getting attached to things , that come and go ?
