19.Awakening ( beingthere)

Everyone must start from somewhere. It is not up tous to determine where our journey will begin. If wewake up in the midst of tragedy or distress, well ... thisis where we must start. We have never met or heardof anyone who reports having awakened in the lap ofluxury and good fortune. The pursuit of HigherConsciousness seems to begin in a manner similar tochildbirth. Coming into the world of consciousnessalways seems to involve birth pains. Maybe this iswhat finally teaches us that we must learn how toembrace and effectively deal with our emotions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 19. Awakening
The awakening that every new seeker must go through seems to present a special difficulty for nearly all individuals. This is when the person awakes to find himself or herself in their present predicament, and often wonders, “How in the hell did I get into this mess?”

This usually occurs when emotional pain begs examination. There are different ways that people deal with this occurrence. Some will go on a walk-about. Some will seek spiritual guidance. Some try to make superficial changes in their lives that they believe will eliminate the source of pain, while not having to make difficult changes. Still others may increase their devices of denial, such as drinking, drugging, sex, gambling, thrill-seeking and so on. These attempts are short-lived and always futile.

You may have already experienced this awakening. You may be well on your path of self-discovery. Perhaps you are one of the more aware people who came into life with the knowledge of the importance of developing your truth, seeking Higher Consciousness and realizing Enlightenment. After all, if you have made it this far in this short course, you probably hear the echo of truth within, however faintly.

If you have not yet experienced this rude awakening, you do not need to fret. The situations in which you awaken are not really as threatening, or futile, as they may first appear. It is difficult to see the divinity of the situation when everything feels like chaos and pain. You set them up through choices you made when you were still asleep. It serves no purpose to fault yourself for choices made before you had the skills to tune-in to your truth. They are the alarm system to awaken you to your true purpose. Sometimes the alarm needs to be quite jolting to get your attention.

Everybody needs to learn additional emotional skills to be able to effectively explore their experience and deal with the situations that invite their pain. If you fail to learn these skills, you only postpone your awakening. You will inevitably create new situations that will be even more alarming. It is a universal and divine lesson that everyone must learn. No one escapes the purpose of his or her life.

Emotional skills are the first step in beginning the pursuit of Higher Consciousness. Deal with the initial situations by seeking to learn emotional skills. This can be done in professional counseling. In seeking a counselor, you need to interview counselors to get a feel for how well they understand your greater pursuit. Some counselors understand the importance of teaching emotional skills, but not all. Some know they are the primary teachers of consciousness skills, but not many. Some are in their own conscious pursuit of Enlightenment, but this is rare. You might have to try out a few counselors to find one who can teach you what you need to know to begin to deal effectively with the situations in your life. It is the best investment you will ever make in your life.

BEing There Enlightenment Systems offers you a safe haven to learn, grow and continue your pursuit out in your world. It is a “consciousness education center ” for those who claim the responsibility of seeking their own Enlightenment, but want occasional guidance and reminders of the sanity of doing so. If you have followed this short course, then you are probably ready. We will help. Read the books. Subscribe to the BEing There forum. Take on-line courses. (beingthere) 18.Divine Situations

Divine Situations
The real beauty of the Path of Emotion is that you do not wait until you have learned just the “right” technique, or met your spiritual master, or affirmed the magical belief, or any other previous notion of how you should reach Enlightenment. By living in accordance with your Personal Truth day-to-day, you will encounter the lessons you need to gain Higher Consciousness. You already have within you the guidance system you need to chart your own course to Enlightenment.
The goal in the pursuit of Higher Consciousness is to make every situation consistent with your Personal Truth. This is a full-time job. When you consider the true purpose of your life, you will discover that there is no other purpose to life other than living truthfully. Each situation is an opportunity to feel your issues, discover an updated Personal Truth and then enact that truth. Nothing is more important than learning how to update and expand your truth, nothing! Your lessons are laid out before you in the situations in which you find yourself. There is a divinity to the structure of your world. It brings you exactly what you need to learn right now, in order to eventually realize Enlightenment.
You will learn to judge every situation in your life according to what is true for you. Is your occupation consistent with your truth? Are you being truthful in your primary relationships, such as with your marriage partner, with your children and with your parents? When you socialize with friends, are you being consistent with your truth? Are the values that you enact in your every choice truthful? Do you compromise your truth in certain situations in order to acquire something else you think you want? In every situation, Personal Truth is always your guiding light. And emotions are your continuous access to your truth, when you know how to use them effectively.
Enlightenment is not something you wait until you have fulfilled your lower consciousness desires to pursue. You do not need to withdraw from the world to pursue Higher Consciousness. The lessons are right here, right now, imbedded in your issues, which emerge in the mundane situations of your life. There may also be physical lessons, mental lessons or spiritual lessons that you will eventually need to learn to continue your pursuit. But it is the emotional skill of connecting to your Personal Truth that will give you the awareness to know these things when they occur.]
Use the divine situations of your life to connect to your Personal Truth and clean up your life. This process takes most people many years. Situation by situation you put into place each building block of your consciousness. BEing There Enlightenment Systems offers you a safe haven to learn, grow and continue the pursuit out in your world. It is a “consciousness education center ” for those who claim the responsibility of seeking their own Enlightenment, but want occasional guidance and reminders of the sanity of doing so. If you have followed this short course, then you are probably ready. We will help.

(beingthere)14.personal growth

It has been awhile since you started this short course in Enlightenment. If you have not been re-reading the former chapters periodically, we recommend that you do so. Some of the concepts you are receiving now will make more sense when they are read in context of the whole picture. It seems helpful to summarize here what you have received so far.

Enlightenment is not an instantaneous event. It occurs as a result of a lifelong process of seeking consciousness. In order to seek consciousness, you must be aware of the different levels of consciousness and why some are lower and others are Higher Consciousness. This involves changing your self-paradigm to a four-aspected model that includes the emotional aspect along with the well-known mental, physical and spiritual aspects.

Seeking consciousness is an active pursuit. It involves practicing a set of skills that allows you complete awareness of your inner dynamics, your Personal Truth, awareness of the responsibility you are claiming, and awareness of the behavior you must choose to be consistent with your truth. The pursuit of Higher Consciousness, including Enlightenment, is a continuous process of practicing specific skills, moment-by-moment, day-by-day, year-by-year. You have very little direct control over the level of consciousness you realize, or your Enlightenment. You have complete control over the process you practice to take you there.

Personal growth results from learning specific skills on each aspect of being. This learning process must begin with increasing your emotional skills, for most people, simply because very few people have been adequately trained in emotional skills, if at all. The lessons that must be learned at any level of consciousness are recognized from the repetition of dealing effectively with your personal issues. Issues are recognized from the dynamics that you practice automatically. And dynamics are identified through input from a person trained to help you recognize and explore them. This also requires that you know how to process your emotions.

Emotional skills are the key to your personal growth. Regardless of how well-developed you are mentally, spiritually or physically, you must learn and practice healthy emotional skills to successfully pursue Higher Consciousness. The next chapter will begin to explain these skills.

Bill Bodri introduced White Fat Cow

"The Secret," which made Oprah and has gone on to make $20 million, offers this idea that you can attract good fortune to yourself just by opening yourself up to it, and projecting your needs and wants into the universe.

Baloney. Sloppy thinking. And a bad influence to society to even suggest this with an absence of responsibility and hard work. The karma you received is only the karma you deserve in life. If you haven't created the merit to receive some excellence you desire, all the mental projection in the world will do nothing for you. What comes, good or bad, is ALL due to karma. And it's karma you created, so don't blame other people.

If you create good karma, then good fortune will result even if you don't want it, and the opposite holds true. No matter how good your fortune this instant, some bad fortune from some ancient karmic life situation is always ready to come due - no one lives a perfect life. That's why Zen teaches you it's how you DEAL with what arises that matters.

Basically, if you want a new future in THIS life which is different from the karmic fate you already laid out (created) for this life due to past actions, you have to create it with actions other than just thoughts. Consistent, determined, wise actions.

What are the keys to accomplishing this?

The normal self-help crowd talks about being motivated, creating a model for success and working it with massive intelligent action, flexibility and a monitoring system to keep you on track.

But guess what? You can still fail at reaching your goal despite A+ marks along these lines.

What's missing?

The merit to succeed. No merit = no karma for the result you want.

Secondly, keeping to and holding to habits that stand in the way of creating the future you desire, which meditation can help you overcome by the very act of shining light on them (vipassana practice).

Lastly, asking for help from heaven for changing a karma that has already been set.Yes, sometimes you need help from others to change your future, including heaven.

All this and more are the things I go over in White Fat Cow and related self-help articles on the website.White Fat Cow is not like these hundreds of other self-help, New Age, prosperity books out there. It's paradigm busting. It's the real thing. It takes the life events that manifest, and proves that what manifests is from karma, and tells you what all the sages from various religions have said is the formula for changing the karma to come. Latet this year, after over a decade of preparation, I'll even introduce a Chinese astrology/I-Ching karma calculator that lets you see what's in store in your future, and tells how to change things.

(Mick Quinn) A series on the shadow - substitution

Here is a real-life example of the shadow: April was newly married, had a stable job, and lived close to her parents and her only sister. As with most of her friends at that time, April was a light drinker and enjoyed an occasional joint. But, she also suffered from anxiety, stress, and sometimes a debilitating depression would settle upon her.

When this occurred, April was often curt with her friends, and would become openly frustrated, sometimes with the simplest of things. To ease the pain, April liked to eat. As a result, she gained quite a bit of weight. In time, tired of being overweight and apprehensive, April went to see an acupuncturist based on the recommendation of her mother. The series of treatments were not without physical discomfort, but April endured them and then, as if magically, she lost lots of weight. Though the emotional and psychological symptoms eased for a time, they did not disappear completely.

With her eating habits now changed, the weight stayed off but April, still a light drinker, found herself being drawn to using more drugs, to the point where she was selling small quantities of cocaine to support her habit.
